Small satellite industry, power electronics, RF electronics, digital signal processing, systems engineering, aerodynamics, structures, control systems, CAD/CAM and composites manufacturing, software engineering, lean product assurance management and safety engineering.

Paul Stevens

Chief Executive Officer

A physicist with over 25 years working in the aerospace industry leading technical projects with rapid design cycles.

Prior to Voltitude, Paul ran the Airbus HAPS design team until 2020, which operated under a DAOS approval – the first of its kind for a HAPS platform.

Prior to this Paul was the CTO of Prismatic Ltd (now owned by BAe), and brought many years of experience gained within QinetiQ and its former government agency DERA to that role.

Steve Tate

Chief Technical Officer

An aerospace engineer with 15 years experience of conceptual design and practical implementation.

Prior to Voltitude, Steve was the lead system architect for the Airbus Zephyr S, which currently holds the world record for the longest flight (26 days) and is the only solar aircraft flying that has maintained multiple days in the stratosphere.

Prior to Zephyr he worked on a range of platforms including Chinook, Watchkeeper, Hermes 450, Dessert Hawk, Mirach, Banshee and missile systems as part of QinetiQ, MBDA and a private consultancy.

Steve Kynaston

Head of Electronic Engineering

An outstanding electronic engineer with 25yrs in electronic engineering, working on several successful and high-profile space programs for the European Space Agency.

Prior to Voltitude, Steve the was head of avionics for the Airbus Zephyr program. He combines his intimate knowledge of best practices in the space industry with a firm grasp of aviation standard practices.

Tim North

Head of Software Engineering

A professional software engineer with 20+ years experience in high technology electrical and electronic products.

Prior to Voltitude, Tim lead the Airbus Zephyr software development team. Tim has a firm grasp of the unique software challenges posed to HAPS and has delivered software to industry recognised certification standards.
